TWISTED PINE
Recorded for The Bluegrass Situation during Cayamo Cruise in The Virgin Islands
JOSEPH
Recorded for The Bluegrass Situation during Cayamo Cruise in the middle of the Mar Caribe
Julieta Rada
We jumped at the chance to work with Uruguayan music royalty in an intimate pop-up studio environment in Brooklyn, showcasing three new songs for the people!
AJ Lee & Blue Summit
In a 4-way partnership between the artist, Paste Magazine (media partner), WinterWonderGrass (festival), Olympic Valley Stables (location and sponsor), we brought AJ Lee & Blue Summit's mandolin-fronted acoustic Americana to our fans as part of a delicious 3-day run in Lake Tahoe, CA.
Gregorio Uribe
IKWS co-founder Juan M Soria brought strong Argentinian roots to NYC, the connection is clear in our work with El Taller Latino Americano. Founded in 1979 by fellow Argentinian Bernardo Palombo, El Taller bridges the gap between Latin and North Americans through art, dance, and music. We were honored to work with Colombian singer and accordionist Gregorio Uribe to help realize Bernardo’s vision.
Shaggy & Sting
When Shaggy and Sting had a day off tour in Norway in 2018, they got a case of beer and hired a boat to explore the scenic Oslofjord. When Frank Sinatra floated across the radio, the pair decided it’d be fun if Shaggy did the Frank songbook in a reggae style with Sting producing, and so it was! We shot this with our friends and frequent collaborators at Ilegal Mezcal in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.
Sid Simons (fka GIRL SKIN)
We’ve been crossing paths with this band and associated musicians in various configurations since a glorious (socially distanced) mid-pandemic rooftop set in Rockaway Beach. For this session, we gathered at Jamal Alnasr’s Greenwich Village music mecca, Village Revival Records. We moved thousands of pounds of vinyl to create JUST enough space to host the 5-piece band in session on behalf of NYC's The New Colossus Festival.
Warren Haynes
of Gov't Mule
Warren’s session was an “is this real life?” moment for IKWS. He walked in like a normal guy and chatted about guitars, amplifiers and food like a normal guy. But he’s WARREN HAYNES. The warm and personable conversations we had both online and off, somehow made the experience even more surreal. He shared three songs from Heavy Load Blues in the cozy home headquarters of our friend and associate Pamnation!
The Womack Sisters
We met the sisters at the gorgeous DUMBO home of musician Drea Pizziconi, overlooking the Statue of Liberty and Brooklyn Bridge. We started the session at 10am (feels like 5am for musicians), but the Womack voices shine bright at any hour and they did their legacy proud (Sam Cooke is their grandfather, Linda & Cecil Womack their parents, Bobby Womack uncle).
